FAQS

WHAT IS A SEMI-INDEPENDENT PROVISION?

A semi-independent provision is where we offer 24-hour person-centred support to young people in care. The aim of the service is to provide a safe and homely environment that promotes empowerment, independence and choice, whilst enhancing individuals’ daily living skills, enabling opportunities to move on to a less support setting where possible.

WHAT TIME IS THE CURFEW AT ALL THE PROVISIONS?

Young people’s curfew to return to the provision is 10:30pm. Unless they have court appointed bail or tag restrictions.

CAN I SMOKE IN MY ROOM?

While we do not encourage smoking as this is dangerous for your health. Smoking is strictly prohibited within the provision. Young people are not allowed to smoke cigarettes/tobacco in their room. Should the young person need to smoke this can be done at the rear of the property in the designated smoking area. Should staff smell cigarettes/tobacco within the provision, appropriate action will be taken in accordance with house rules.

ARE MY FRIENDS/FAMILY ALLOWED TO VISIT ME?

Young people are allowed up to two visitors in the provision in communal areas only, subject to the discretion of staff. All visitors must present themselves to staff, sign in and show photo I.D to prove their identity, a copy of which will be taken by staff. Our staff have at their discretion, the right to refuse any visitor to the provision. Young people are advised that they are held responsible for the behaviour of their visitors and so are expected to remind their visitors of the importance of not engaging in anti-social behaviour and to respect the provision rules. All visitors must leave the provision by 9:45pm. No visitors are allowed to stay overnight under any circumstances.

WHAT SUPPORT DO I GET AT THE PLACEMENT?

A support plan is produced by the key worker and the young person by using the pathway plan and any other relevant information. This sets out specific objectives in the identified areas and how the young person hopes to achieve these using both internal and external resources.  All support plans are reviewed as and when required and referred to during the key working 1:1 sessions and updated appropriately.
